Stories of bread
by and with Antonio Catalano
Antonio Catalano exhibits simple loaves which become works of art (white) which the visitor can interpret as desired and which the critic may revel in.
Antonio’s father, Rocco, was a baker and it is to him that this installation/exhibition is dedicated.
Antonio Catalano says: ‘I will tell you what fascinates me about the baker: hands, the hands which by moving air and dough can create shapes: long, short, concertina-shaped, flattened… like works of art, for eating though! I have conceived this “museum” as an exploration of my childhood memories, where bread was the only daily food, where bread represents my father, sensitive artist of white art’.
After an exhaustive illustration of the various works of art, each day, as the exhibition closes, the last visitors may take them home and eat them.
Stories of bread may be presented like an exhibition/installation and/or as a performance with Antonio Catalano
